Ancient Artifacts and Treasures has been a dream of John McIntosh for many years. A collector of fossils, US coins and minerals for more than 45 years, this fascination with collecting soon turned to ancient coins and ancient artifacts. Additionally, he became certified in underwater archeology. To be able to share this passion for the ancient, the historical and the unusual with collectors whether experienced or not has blossomed into a shop of wonders to delight young and old. There are Florida fossils, florida native American artifacts, fossils from around the world, minerals, gems and crystals antiquities and artifacts from around the world as well as ancient and modern coins. |
| The store is a family affair as well. Opening in August of 1999, John's mother, Joan, operates the store during the week. But selling isn't a new thing for them, John has been trading on eBay since 1996 (mcintosh55 (+1230)). At Ancient Artifacts & Treasures we are committed to bringing you authentic fossils, minerals, and ancient artifacts of collectable quality at reasonable prices. As you add to your collection, we take pride in sharing the history behind the article. One of the most popular features in the shop is the $1 bin. Stocked with fossils, minerals, crystals and more, the enthusiast can 'hunt' for a real treasure. Many items are worth more than the price paid. You can stop by Tuesday through Friday, 10am-6pm, Saturday 10-5 and "dig" for yourself. Periodically, John also gives an informative yet informal talk about various topics geared toward youth, yet enjoyed by all. This fondness for sharing his knowledge has benefited the Central Florida public school system for more than 20 years where he continues to present hands-on talks to grades Kindergarten through 5th grade on Fossils, Rocks & Minerals, Dinosaurs, Crystals, Rocks, Minerals & Fossils of Florida and Ancient Roman Money. He has also presented talks to a number of Mineral and Fossil clubs. John's associations include membership in the American Numismatic Association (ANA) since 1979, membership in FUN (Florida United Numismatists), membership in CFCC (Central Florida Coin Club), membership in Authentic Artifact Collectors Association (AACA), listed in Marquis' Who's Who since 2000 as well as Marquis' Who's Who in Science and Engineering since 1992. |
