The store is a family affair as well.
Opening in August of 1999, John's mother, Joan, operates the
store during the week. But selling isn't a new thing for them.
John has been trading on eBay since 1996 (mcintosh55 (+795))
and OnSale (predecessor to Yahoo) since 1997 and Yahoo (mcintosh55
(+826)) since they purchased OnSale. At Ancient Artifacts &
Treasures we are committed to bringing you authentic fossils,
minerals, and ancient artifacts of collectable quality at reasonable
prices. As you add to your collection, we take pride in sharing
the history behind the article.
One of the most popular features in the
shop is the $1 bin. Stocked with fossils, minerals, crystals
and more, the enthusiast can 'hunt' for a real treasure. Many
items are worth more than the price paid. You can stop by Monday
through Saturday, 10am-6pm or Friday, 10am-8pm and "dig"
for yourself.
Once a month, John also gives an informative
yet informal talk about various topics geared toward youth yet
enjoyed by all. This fondness for sharing his knowledge has benefited
the Central Florida public school system for more than 10 years
where he has lectured to grades Kindergarten through 7th on fossils,
rocks & minerals, dinosaurs and crystals.
John's associations include membership
in the American Numismatic Association (ANA) since 1979, listed
in Marquis' Who's Who 2000, 2001 and 2002 as well as Marquis'
Who's Who in Science and Engineering since 1992.
